i have joked about skiblading a 14er or 13er before, but on a serious note- didn't someone just die using these on a descent..? like a few months ago?

I think these 2 posts are referring to the same accident. Not fatal, but serious injuries.two lunches wrote: ↑Wed Aug 14, 2024 8:36 am i have joked about skiblading a 14er or 13er before, but on a serious note- didn't someone just die using these on a descent..? like a few months ago?
Every village has at least one idiot. Successful villages choose someone else to be their leader.

I have not used these, but without wearing a proper AT boot and binding, which is sounds like you're trying to avoid, you will have very little control in these things.
They look pretty fun to mess around in on-piste or on cross country trails (where the advertising pics are taken), but I wouldn't use em in the backcountry. I tend to agree with what others have said that if you're trying to extend your season into May flotation is way more important, and these won't substitute for snowshoes or real skis. There is still a ton of snow below tree line in May, and it's usually not supportable by the time you're coming down.

Reminds me of the original Big Feet and Salomon's snowblades. I agree with the rest these are probably not for the backcountry.
