While "gb" may have more current information, it was my understanding that above the Sherrod Curve the approach to the West Portal of the Alpine Tunnel is closed to all "motorized" vehicles, i.e. "dirtbike, etc.
This came out of my communication with the Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre and Gunnison National Forest office in Gunnison last month when I traveled over there.

You're probably right, but I did see dirtbikes up there last summer. There is enough room from them- whether or not they're supposed to get by the rockfall is another question I guess.
