Is that the same one you were driving the first time I (almost) ran into you?
July 2008, McNasser Gulch. Grizzly and Garfield.
The one that said "Chicks with picks?"
I took a pic, but can't find it.

Driven new off the lot in November 2006, my Chitti has been the best purchase of my life and has enabled this hobby like nothing other than my own legs.
It survived water to the door handles at the Rockdale creek crossing, hitting a deer head-on at 72mph (I drove home), and somehow made it over Hancock Pass and down to St. Elmo (not recommended for a stock vehicle with or without a spotter).
Approaching 300k miles on its 5th set of BFG ATs, second clutch, and little maintenance, it will continue as my daily driver until it won't.

The FJ will be my next off-road vehicle I get once mine goes to the boneyard. As they don't make Xterra Pro-4X's anymore
When I was doing research before I got my Nissan Xterra Pro-4X they said there were only three vehicles that were built for off-road from the factory. Jeep Wrangler, Toyota FJ, and the Nissan Pro-4X. The only reason I got the Nissan over the other two was size. I can laydown to car camp a little easier in my Nissan. But they stopped making them so my next one will be the FJ.
Sadly the FJ hasn't been made in the US since 2014. I think 2018 was the last year in Japan.
My '08 Trail Teams just turned 290k and is finally developing that highly-sought "old truck smell." Also on my 2nd clutch and billionth set of tires. Mileage sucks with the 3" lift but it goes places. I lost track but let's just say there's a deer bodycount.

Well that's a real bummer! I wasn't aware of that. Sounds like both Nissan and Toyota made that decision about the same time then. Too bad. Two superb off-road vehicles.
Guess I'll have to look into Toyota's TRD models to see how they compare.

Nope. That wasn't mine at that point. I had a green 3rd gen. The 'Chicks with picks' one may have been Sue Personett's since she was with me that day. I can't recall what she drove.
2001 Jeep Cherokee, 2.5 inch lift, on 30's.
225000 miles, almost ready to retire, (and buy a new 4Runner)
This Jeep has done the Devils Punchbowl, and made it to, not past, jaws 1 on Lake Como Rd.
The underside is pretty beat up, but nothing terminal.
I sleep in the back for 1 night stays, and set up the tent for longer stays.

I barely managed 30k miles on recent Goodyear Kevlar tires for my 4Runner before the treads wore down. On most other brands, I've made it to ~35k before they puncture (as opposed to wear down). Have you had better luck for longevity?

Now put some Goodyear Kevlar tires on it and you'll be good to go!

"The road to alpine climbing is pocked and poorly marked, ending at an unexpectedly closed gate 5 miles from the trailhead." - MP user Beckerich
My baby, Ariel Riders X class. Goes 40, goes where my Impreza won’t. Still get 33mpg getting to the 2WD trailheads and can access any 4x4 road out there. I was going back and forth on getting a 4Runner or a truck as my next vehicle last year, but decided 2k for this and continue running the old Impreza into the dirt.
