Nice pics! Looks like a lot of fun with just a little spice on a couple of down climbs from the snow. Wish I wasn't so far away and didn't have so much going on right now.daway8 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 26, 2024 6:37 pm Many thanks to Britt and the others who organized this year's Winter Welcomer!
We had a crew of 9 who went up the West Ridge and had a great time doing some class 3 with just enough snow to spice it up a little!
The link below shows a little piece of the action for the West Ridge Crew to see themselves getting after it or for those who weren't on that route to see what they missed.
Also enjoyed meeting some of the rest of y'all on the summit and/or the parking lot - and many thanks to the CMC group who loaned us a driver to help ferry the crew back up to our vehicles!

Re: The 16th Annual Winter Welcomer!
What a stellar weather day! For this year, instead of a Winter Welcomer, we should change the name to the "Fall Finale" as this day did NOT resemble winter! Not only was it super warm, and hardly any snow, the winds were way below what was forecasted. This has got to be the mildest Winter Welcomer in the 16 years we've done it.
I counted 110 people climbing the mountain. Another record...even though many of them were not there for the Winter Welcomer or CMC climbing trips. It was good to run into many friends and acquaintances such as Greg McVie, Jeff Golden, Greg, David and of course Brad McQueen.

It's always fun to see some people donning costumes and flying around the mountain. Way to fly Joan!

Good food and good times at the tailgate party!
(Maybe for next year, the faster groups could start at 10:00am so we all get to the tailgate party at the same time!
