Colors were still popping over on the Abyss Lake trail on Saturday (9/23), but were definitely just past peak. A decent number of the trees up high had lost their leaves, but that made for some lovely golden paved trails, lots of good color still around probably for a few more days even.
Along Crater Lake trail on 9/18 and 9/19, colors were nearing peak conditions with no leaves falling yet but still some mixed green aspens as well.
As of 9/19 there was not quite as much yellow along Castle Creek road, although there was a fair amount. Now is probably nearing peak.
Twin Lakes area appeared to be nearing peak conditions on around 9/20.
A drive up to Guanella pass from the Georgetown side revealed lots of yellow on 9/21, but this area appeared past peak conditions, as many of the aspens were thinning and we saw many leaves on the ground well below the pass.

As of yesterday, Summit County and the I-70 corridor from Georgetown to Herman Gulch were near peak, while the Vail Valley still had a good bit of green...probably another week or so left there (though still very nice!)
It's interesting that this year, there seems to be almost no correlation between color change timing and latitude.

Beautiful shots! How far up the trail were these taken? I'm considering taking my daughter up this week, unless it's going to be too long for her to enjoy. Thanks!

The first one was taken maybe 2.5mi in, while the second was closer to 4mi in. We only went a little past the Rosalie/Abyss junction as the aspens kind of thin up higher. Lots of good color around, but definitely on its way out this week, get there soon.
Anyone been up around RMNP to see how colors are faring? From looking at some of the webcams it looks like things are getting close to prime, but hard to tell.
First fall season in CO and hoping to take the wife and some friends up to view the colors this Saturday, Sept 30. I know it will probably be busy, but any recommendations from what you all have seen as to where the place to be is? Not afraid to drive a few hours from the Denver metro to get there either. Thanks!

I was at the South Colony Lakes trailhead on Friday. Plenty of color (though not as much as I recall seeing on the road to the Mount Lindsey TH last year). Not much green left in that specific area, at least.

The Vail area (Booth/Pitkin/Deluge/Gore creek trails) should all be very good this weekend.

McClure Pass and then over Kebler Pass and into Crested Butte is great if the timing is right, and I think end of September - first few days of October should be pretty much prime time. Haven't been this year, but have been several times, and I think usually about now is pretty good. Is a bit of a drive for one day, but I have done that very drive in one day, not that bad.
