Ah, he's probably doing a headstand right about now.

It looks like his first pin is at 4:30, so did he sleep in or what?

I hope he gets a bit of a break with the wind. We have had 50+ MPH gusts of wind on Mon & Tue and the forecast today is 40 MPH gusts (with possibility of t-storms). SJ Ron :)

Anybody happen to know if there's a way to get the map page to auto-update and/or refresh so I don't have to zoom in each time? Get some, Andrew!

Cheers,
Kojones

1:23 to Windom, 2:04 to Sunlight.

My splits were 1:22:12 to Windom, 1:58:28 to Sunlight, 3:10:05 to North Eolus, 3:25:32 to Eolus, 4:17:15 back at the start, 5:56:55 back at Needleton. Andrew is having to deal with snow. It was probably too firm coming off Windom and Sunlight to save time glissading.

I'm guessing Andrew started earlier than he needed to to make the 11:15 train, but it's a tough call to make. You want to be a bit conservative, give yourself a buffer, but waiting for the train is lost time. I started at 5:15 to make the 11:45 train. I was faster on the peaks than I expected, so I was able to hike out to the train fairly casually and still got there with over half an hour to wait.

So, my start to train time was basically 6:30. Andrew's will be 6:45. Minor time difference there compared to my time, but I suspect he could have gotten that done in more like 6:00 or less. But that's a gamble.

I'm a bit nervous about catching the train. This is going to be a quick descent to the train if it happens! You got this Andrew!

Eolus at 8:14? He'll make the 11:15 train EASY (unless upper Needle Creek snow is miserable). We dropped out of Chicago basin to the train ~2 hrs will full backpacks and I think Andrew can move a lot faster than we did.

Maybe he can allow himself a little nap at Needleton

Yeah - I'm less nervous now. Just hoping the snow isn't a problem.

Prater does pose an interesting dilemma - if you were ABSOLUTELY obsessed with time, do you start late and race to the train with the plan that if you miss it you could just stroll back up Needle Creek and do a re-start the following day? (or perhaps recover for a day and restart two days later?)

Tricky for sure. You could always push it close with the back up plan of re-starting if you miss the train, but then I would worry about the cascade affect of the support team, many of whom may have limited time for this and are expecting to be on a certain schedule. All part of the challenge though, not to mention the excitement for us spectators.

This is awesome. I wish you the best of luck and my hats off to you. Those spilts are crazy fast even as a single day trip much less a 21 day marathon of peaks, cant wait to see more.

More exciting than World Cup? I have two browser tabs open and will be checking both for the next few days. And I don't know Andrew personally.

looks like he is safe in the valley now and can loaf it back to Needleton...will be his last bit where there's no rush.
