It's definitely a good idea to wear a very high visibility color, such as blaze orange, during hunting season. Heck, I wear orange often.
And I don't even look like the back end of an elk.
I did wear the orange, but definitely felt like the a-hole out there (not an uncommon feeling for me) because I was trying to move quickly and scaring off all the wildlife while all the bow hunters were so respectful and moved smoothly and quietly.
I flushed out a lot of wildlife. They definitely know when September 1 is.
In response to the original post, some people out there are just crazy sociopaths. I hope they are caught.
I'm always amazed (in a bad way) about how bad some hunters are at shooting. I don't hunt but I am an avid shooter. It's a really bad day at the range if my groupings are more than a 3 inch diameter at 200 yards with a cheap walmart 22. With the 223 it better be quarter size groupings at that range.
I bet we can all agree that we hate noisy hikers blasting music. Last time I hiked the manitou incline, there was a group sitting at the top with a boom box. They even wanted me to thank them for the "musical motivation" while asking if I had water for them. The temptation to throw the boom box down the incline was great and I was confident that I could outrun the frat boys in tank tops.

Point something that isn't a pee shooter at a big game animal that you've been stalking for 6 hours, off trail, in rough terrain, at 10,000 feet, using your backpack as your rifle rest, while out breath and pulsing with adrenaline because you've finally got that animal in your cross hairs, knowing that if you wait too long to pull the trigger the animal is gonna move away, and maybe you'll realize how good of shots hunters actually are.
Anyone can group a .223 or 5.56 at 200 yards at the range.

I've always wondered why pro soccer and pro hockey players can't seem to hit the broadside of a barn when they let it rip. Why don't they just take a little bit off the ball/puck and try to actually get it on goal?

Fair enough. I've never been there. I've only hunted once in my life. My experience is definitely anecdotal.
