I always rooted for Ryan Phillippe - so good to see him doing something.

but I will withhold judgment for just a sec here.

___

also hearing chatter re: Netflix doc “Race to the summit" ?

ok the judgment has arrived - SPOILERS - kinda

terrible movie - but awesome mountain scenes. and lots of climbing deaths. like almost everyone.

but my question would be -there's a few scenes where people are doing roped climbs of vertical rock walls - and they are at times doing these 'leaping' movements from one handhold to the next.

but that's not really a thing in climbing at all - right? you wouldn't plan on going up a route that required you at some point to jump around? seemed extra fake.

Either way - i think if I grew up near the alps - i'd be dead by now anyway. s**t looks so cool but also so sketch.
Keep looking up - Jack Horkheimer

For you ski movie buffs, Steep is amazing! Has some footage of CO legend Lou Dawson, and plenty of the late, greats Doug Coombs and Shane McConkey.

this is a very weird indie movie - good one - and has great sweeping shots of montana i believe.
Wow, I can’t believe anyone else remembers this movie! I haven’t thought of it since it came out.

As others have said, the list is long, but for feature films my most recent favorite is a 2022 Italian film called "The Eight Mountains":

Lots of great scenery in the Italian Alps, and a great story that handles the subject of male friendship maybe better than any movie I've ever seen.
