7/7/2025 Route: West Slopes Posted On: 7/7/2025, By: wwdonaldson Info: Full on summer conditions. One or two 3 foot sections of snow, which are easily avoidable and will be gone in the next couple days. |

7/5/2025 Route: West Slopes Posted On: 7/5/2025, By: M_Dundee Info: Mud holes in the willows. Some rock slippage that obscures the trail between the willows and the turn to go up to the saddle. Also a few short stretches of snow that you cross to stay on the trail or can easily go around. Along Sherman's ridge there is snow, but it is off the trail on the east edge. Flowers, especially columbine, are very abundant in the fields at the start of the trail. One trail junction to look for, about 120 feet up the initial climb from the flower fields into rocks there is a split, stay right (level) towards the tall cairn to stay on the Class 1 trail. Going left (uphill) leads into obscure trail and rock hopping. |

6/21/2025 Route: Southwest Ridge Posted On: 6/22/2025, By: pmathews Info: Still on snow fields on the peak and on the way up. Having spikes would have made it little easier but made it without spikes. Windy the whole way up. |

6/20/2025 Route: Southwest Ridge Posted On: 6/20/2025, By: kennedy_josh Info: Trail and peak in really good condition this morning. Arrived TH about 0500 plenty of parking there or just down the road all morning. Snow covers most of the trail under the saddle; microspikes were handy there but not a must (on the return, great conditions for a long glissade!). Quite windy climbing the ridge but was 'normal' near the summit. Snow covers most of the peak ridge but as previous report noted you can skirt the snow; again, microspikes there would be handy but not a must. About a 5hr r/t for me. |

6/16/2025 Route: Southwest Ridge Posted On: 6/16/2025, By: Prestoneous Info: Good conditions with handful of snow crossings (started at about 7:45 AM and back down around 11:30). Large snow field still present below saddle but was easy to navigate -- existing paths had reliable footholds kicked into the snow (didn't consider putting on my micro-spikes). From the saddle, the first few hundred feet up are completely dry. As the ridge narrows, the top is often covered with snow. Much of the snow was easy to navigate in just shoes or easy enough to skirt around. But a few spots were pretty slick and I was glad to have and use micro-spikes. |

6/15/2025 Route: Southwest Ridge Posted On: 6/20/2025, By: jmfb3 Info: Later start, roughly 10am. Snow once you reach the approach to the ridge. Did not use traction, but would not have minded having some. Post holed once near the ridge. Some nice glissading on the way down around 12:30. |

6/8/2025 Route: Southwest Ridge Posted On: 6/8/2025, By: Ssgustafson Info: Beautiful morning on Mt Sherman today! The route is mostly dry and the patchy snow that remains can easily be crossed without traction. Made a side trip to White Ridge that was also mostly free of snow. The ridge over to Sheridan looked similarly dry. |

5/30/2025 Route: Southwest Ridge Posted On: 5/31/2025, By: SpirlOutwrd Info: The road was clear all the way to the gate at 4-mile Creek Trailhead. Ground is clear of snow for much of the ascent. Where snow did persist, there was some minor post holing in the AM, but only for short distances. The final quarter mile is still covered with snow, and I found microspikes, while not a strict necessity, to be a helpful reassurance, especially on the descent. Very windy and cold at the summit, but all in all a pretty straightforward, accessible jaunt. NOTE: Average clearance vehicles can likely make it most of the way with careful driving, but I'd encourage average/ lower profile vehicles to park at the final lot and avoid the final .1 mile stretch to the actual gate which has some pretty gnarly spots. |

5/27/2025 Route: West Slopes Posted On: 5/29/2025, By: andibertolina Info: The west gully has plenty of snow until the ridge when walking is easier than skinning. I skied down the W face and, although a little rocky for the top 100' or so, was able to ski continuous snow to the TH. It is also possible to drive to the end of the road now |

5/13/2025 Route: Southwest Ridge Posted On: 5/13/2025, By: bschiff Info: Trail was in pretty solid shape. About 1/3 of it is snow, with everything above the saddle needing crampons. Would also recommend snow shoes for some of the deeper snow. |
