Info: Roughly from the stream crossing to treeline, the forested area is still holding quite a bit of loose snow which made travel slow-going. Otherwise, on the upper portion of the route, the snow is still quality given an early start!

Info: From South Winfield TH I did a loop, ascending the NW slopes standard route, then descending the east side to Clohesy Lake, down the Clohesy Lake road and back around to South Winfield. Clear Creek Road is basically free of snow to the Lake Ann/Huron TH except for a few pockets that weren't enough to stop a jeep parked at the TH. There is still quite a bit of snow in the forested switchbacks up to 12k. The upper slopes are still holding snow but it is very thin in many places. From the saddle at 13.5k, I descended on skis down the broad gully into the eastern basin, which still held enough snow for a continous descent to timberline. I managed to keep my skis on through the trees all the way to Clohesy Lake, which I largely credit to a set of ski tracks I followed that seemed to know their way through the maze, but it was a bit treacherous and will probably melt out shortly. Clohesy Lake to Pear Lake TH was patchy snow, and Pear Lake TH to Clear Creek was basically snow free. The stream crossing at Clear Creek was calf deep and easy.

Info: Approached from Lake Fork (FSR 381), and climbed East/NorthEast Face. First you have 3 creeks to cross at start, or two if you navigate the small stones to step across. No snow first mile or so. Miles 2-3 some snow, firm early, pure slush later in day. Mile 3-4 up to Clohesy Lake all snow covered. I ascended using the avalanche path above lake, which delivers you to upper bowl. Snow stayed firm and was very nice climbing up to bowl below face. Skinned up bowl till about 50 feet below saddle. Switched to boot pack and ice axe for final ascent to Summit. Exit was reverse, so after ride down, skinned out till last 1-2 miles on foot. 10.4 miles 4800 vert.

Info: I parked at the beginning of the 4x4 road where the sign is, and started the hike crossing the road to fenced off road diverging from the main 4x4 road. There was snow from the beginning, and it did get deep (1-2') in some spots on the road. There were spots on the road with very soft snow, and others with a hard crust. Above treeline, minimal snow going up to middle mountain. I got a bit lost going to PT 13462, and walked through the valley to get to it, instead of taking the obvious route, and the snow was waist deep in many spots. Great views from the unraked 13er, and I put on microspikes to traverse the boulder fields. The boulders were sketchy and I ended up falling several times, so I took a lower line and found a safe way to connect to Huron's main trail. The main trail had deep snow the whole way to the summit, but others had trenched a path. Summited at around 3pm and was the last one to summit and last one off the mountain. Heading down sucked with the feet and feet of soft snow, and my boots were soaked. The walk back to the my truck on the 4x4 road was mellow, since the road was pretty dry. With the upcoming storms, I wouldn't doubt it if this route gets much dicier and the road much harder to drive on.

Info: Quite snowy up there today! I was able to link up Middle Mountain, Unnamed 13,471', and Browns Peak. Then took north ridge up to Huron. First time taking Lulu Gulch and it was fun! Definitely prettier than standard route. The boulderfield to get from Browns to Huron was a bit dicey with the loose rock and looser snow. Might be better to wait for true winter or summer conditions to do that one for the best conditions. The lower down snow will melt but up above is here to stay. Most steps were ankle deep, deepest was just past my knee. Did not use floatation, brought spikes but did not use. Saw a few other people. One guy started up before me (only other car when I got there) but their tracks never made it up to summit so I broke trail on the last stretch from the 13.4k ridge as well. As I was descending Huron I saw a group of 4 pushing up from around 13k. Thank you for breaking trail on the standard route descent if you see this! It was a big help. Otherwise I saw three others that were hiking around the meadows but did not seem to bid for summit. Started at 7:15 am, Middle mountain at 9:50, summitted Point 13,471 at 10:30, summitted Browns at 11, summitted Huron at 12, back to car around 2.

Info: Still a couple inches of snow on the route above 13,000 feet. Spikes highly recommended, particularly while descending. Snow will hopefully disappear over the coming days. Very muddy above treeline and below the snow as the snow melts later in the day.

Info: Estimated about 3-4 inches of fresh snow on the ground from Saturday night's storm. Made for some slick areas on the final pitch just before the summit, but never felt like microspikes were necessary. By about 10am, the trail itself was pretty much clear of snow and much of the snow was totally melted out below treeline - I'd expect the rest to melt out tomorrow or Tuesday at the latest. Summer conditions aren't totally over yet.

Info: Route was in great condition overall. Saw zero people on the trail. Highly recommend using Gaia.gps to keep moving forward. Something felt off about the shorter route to Browns so just be caution if choosing that instead of middle switchbacks (I think the AllTrails and Gaia routes were off). Definitely was a challenge of mental fortitude. Middle switchbacks were a little iffy in some spots as the path disappeared in a few spots where the sand/dirt/crushed rock washed the path away. Made it to the top pre-snow. If any snow stuck it may have made the boulder fields before and after Browns Peak a little slippery. Micro spikes would be recommended to bring but probably wouldnt need. Be ready to route find but frankly after the switchbacks, its pretty intuitive if you have a general idea of where youre supposed to be. Went down standard, 10000% glad I went up on Lulu due to the challange and way less people. Not for the faint of heart, though.

Info: Some light snow above 13,000 ft (fell on Wednesday 9/11/24) but did not impact my hike, trail was easy to find. Wind gusts made layers absolutely necessary. Parked short of the Lake Anne trailhead by ~ 2 miles and walked the rest of the way up the 4x4 road, but probably could have made it all the way in my CX-5 driving very slowly. ~ 5 hrs car to car. Very nice time of year to be in the Sawatch, Aspens are starting to show color.

Info: Trail was damp enough to provide great traction without being muddy. Virtually no wind. Prior 24hr NOAA forecast was accurate. Short sleeve going up/down with a light fleece at the top was all that was needed today.

Info: Very nice day, stairmaster climb from 4x4 TH. All 3.5 miles is elevation gaining. Wetness made for good footing for sure. Left 6:45. Reached top at 10am. No storm clouds till after 1:00. Everyone commented on the views from up top. Im glad its a 14er so I can experience this mtn Fresh water streams before the ascension so a person can hydrate. Great mtn overall.

Info: Summer conditions throughout. We started from the Winfield lot due to our car clearance. The trailhead had Trucks, Jeep Wranglers, stock Subaru Forresters, and Outbacks parked there. Saw Mountain Goats, Marmots, and a few Pika's. Fantastic views from the peak and an outstanding groomed trail. No route finding is needed. Happy hiking!
