Route: Dry stream gully from Fravert Basin
Posted On: 10/6/2024, By: Grover
Info: Clear of snow, typical Elk Range rock to get to the top. Amazing views - would rank it up there with Buckskin Benchmark as a seldom visited 13'er that is really worth a visit for the views. Main reason for posting is to state the bushwhack up the dry stream and steep hike up via the turnoff in Fravert Basin was not that fun, so my descent down was via the ridge over Trail Rider Peak > Trail Rider Pass > then taking the superhighway 4-Pass Loop trail west > then down to Fravert Basin. Yes, this added more mileage, I know, but I was craving a solid trail to end the day. Aspen leaves are in prime to past-prime in the area. Over 30+ ppl at the Crystal Mill as I drove out from LKB.

Route: From Snowmass Peak/Trail Rider Pass
Posted On: 7/18/2023, By: supranihilest
Info: From the bottom of Snowmass Peak we traversed on snow and talus to the trail, then up to the pass. Took ridge direct towards "Trail Rider Peak"/Point 12,931, which entailed some Class 2+/Class 3 scrambling on typical Elk rock. Various sections of social trail along the ridge. From the 12er travel eases to the saddle with 13,062 B, then we made an ascending traverse on loose rock and dirt, staying on the northwest face/slopes. One short snowfield crossing. This leads to a gully then to a sloping ledge to the southeast side of the peak and then an easy hike to the summit. Some Class 2+ along the route but mostly just steep loose stuff. We reversed to the saddle and took an unofficial trail along the south side of the long ridge back to the Geneva Lake trail and back to Lead King Basin trailhead.

Route: west ridge
Posted On: 10/28/2020, By: tdawg012
Info: Summer conditions with a brisk autumn breeze. West ridge is a short fun scramble and would be good practice (and relatively low consequence) for those wanting to get more intimate with Elk scrambles. Cairns are here and there but I chose my own path. An easier ascent/descent line exists via a super short gully on North face. It reminded me briefly of the gully between Thunder/Lightning Pyramid.
