8/20/2023 Route: Via Fourth of July TH and South Arapaho Peak Posted On: 8/22/2023, By: salmanalsaif Info: Good forecast for Sunday, and it was the case throughout. Nothing out of the ordinary, not many people did the traverse (had the summit to ourselves). TH was full around 6 or so but close road parking was plentiful (2 min walk or so). |

8/12/2023 Route: Via Fourth of July TH and South Arapaho Peak Posted On: 8/13/2023, By: zootloopz Info: traverse via south arapaho mostly class 3 with two short sections minimally exposed class 4. a few opportunities to play around and pick different lines. arrows to guide the way in many places. fairly solid rock. ended up taking an hour one way. summit views from north arapaho are incredible. favorite hike/scramble of the summer so far. saw about 20 others on the traverse throughout the day. 12 weeks post surgery |

8/5/2023 Route: Via Fourth of July TH and South Arapaho Peak Posted On: 8/5/2023, By: Camden7 Info: Dry summer condition. Great flowers. Class 4 traverse from south is a joke. Class 2+? Easy class 3? Bomber rock, no exposure, easy and intuitive routefinding. Still a blast and super scenic thought, great introductory scramble to try before some of the 3rd and 4th class 14ers. |

7/22/2023 Route: Via Fourth of July TH and South Arapaho Peak Posted On: 7/22/2023, By: sarahmariekirk Info: Climbed S Arapaho and N Arapaho today via the traverse (and added on Old Baldy). Such a fantastic day. This area is unreal, it is so gorgeous and the wildflowers are peaking below and above treeline. The traverse is completely dry except for one small patch right below the N Arapaho summit but you can avoid it. The crux was fairly simple, and you can get creative with the scrambling on this route. So much fun! |

7/9/2023 Route: Via Fourth of July TH and South Arapaho Peak Posted On: 7/9/2023, By: Kjonell Info: Went up south Arapaho and took the traverse over to north Arapaho as well. Traverse was in good shape. Couple small snow fields but not in areas where its sketchy. Crux was easily doable but Im 6 foot. Could see it being harder for someone shorter. Gully to the top has lots of snow but if you keep to the side you can go partially on rock |

5/29/2023 Route: Via Fourth of July TH and South Arapaho Peak Posted On: 5/30/2023, By: Tristan Brewer Info: The plan was to summit via Northstar, but due due to excessive snow and route finding difficulties, we instead piecemealed another line together that went. The traverse to S Arapaho was unlike anything Ive seen there. Almost all of the rocks were buried under feet of dense wind packed snow, which made the walk easy albeit seemingly dangerous. This is unlike any late May that Ive seen, and the conditions were akin to mid April in every way. |

10/17/2022 Route: Via Fourth of July TH and South Arapaho Peak Posted On: 10/18/2022, By: geojed Info: Dry to S Arapahoe summit. Traverse to N Arapahoe has some patchy ankle deep snow once ridge heads north. After Class 4 face the snow continues to add spice and makes it continuous class 3/4 to avoid it. Didn't use spikes but they would've been useful. |

8/6/2022 Route: via South Arapaho Peak Posted On: 8/6/2022, By: csf-lhiver Info: A fun ridge to cross. Solid rock. Slab section is fun with some crimp holds. Coming down that section is also fun. Whole ridge is great with some cool views of Arapaho Glacier. |

7/17/2022 Route: Via Fourth of July TH and South Arapaho Peak Posted On: 7/18/2022, By: jbealer Info: more of a PSA then a conditions report. the slab is getting pretty smooth, grippe/approach shoes are recommended. the route was really busy for a Sunday. I have never seen so many people on a class 4 route with out helmets on. I get that its a traverse and there is not much above you but some people do take a direct route above you and helmets do help in a fall while you are navigating some of the moves on this route. there was also a dog on the traverse, look, i get that you might think you have the most capable bad ass dog out there but a busy Sunday is not the time to bring them on this route. you lifted your dog up the rock, let go of the leash and it then climb up and wrapped the leash around my friends legs as she was standing out of the way to let you up the notch, not cool. other then that i was happy that my 3rd attempt at this peak was a success finally, 4 times up SA has been enough. Also that snow patch near the notch is melted enough you can just step past it, the boulder right at the hole is lose as are a few more boulders as you step out of the hole from the notch if you choose the crawl through the opening on the right side, or you can go left and step up the large rocks. |

7/4/2022 Route: Via Fourth of July TH and South Arapaho Peak Posted On: 7/5/2022, By: Abominabl31 Info: The traverse route between South and North Arapahoe Peaks is free of snow - almost. There is one small patch of snow in the final notch to North Arapahoe Peak summit. I consider myself strictly a summer conditions climber and was able to climb past in climber's left side of the notch it's in. I only had to put my right foot on the ice once while keeping a solid hand hold. I had micro-spikes but didn't feel the need to use them or any traction. So, that bit of snow is certainly not a deterrent but perhaps good to know that when seeing it from a distance. Overall, very beautiful out there! |

10/2/2021 Route: Via Fourth of July TH and South Arapaho Peak Posted On: 10/2/2021, By: Hannah_Madden Info: Trail up South Arapaho totally clear of snow. Snow starts immediately on the traverse from South to North Arapaho. Was able to do most of the route without any gear but got shut down at the final down climb before the last notch just below the summit. Route describes it as a somewhat exposed class 3 down climb of 50 feet. With the snow that covered it, you would definitely need gear, the amount dependent on your level of risk acceptance. I wouldn't do it without a rope. Winter is here folks! |

7/27/2021 Route: Via Fourth of July TH and South Arapaho Peak Posted On: 7/27/2021, By: Ericsheffey Info: Full summer conditions throughout. Wildflowers seem to be in peak condition along the trail up lending to great scenery all around. The scramble was short and sweet. The class 4 move felt really easy, and the rest of it can honestly be kept closer to class 2, which is what we did on the way S - > N, but then we stayed ridge proper the way back for some better class 4 fun. Fun 13ers all in all, and great views all around. Someone educate me though: I've been told the Arapaho Glacier is one of the few places in CO where you might find any semblance of crevasse activity (as well as the Fair Glacier), but it's in the Boulder Watershed off-limits area, so no one can actually go out there onto it. Just curious, do those look like small crevasses in my photos of the glacier, or am I going crazy? |

7/14/2021 Route: Via Fourth of July TH and South Arapaho Peak Posted On: 7/14/2021, By: -wren- Info: Summer conditions. If it rained the night before, watch out for slippery damp rock, particularly the 4th class slab moves which are on pretty small holds and might be significantly harder if wet. IMHO, if you're short the few moves may feel like 5th class, but a consequential fall would be very unlikely, you'd just slide a couple feet and land back on the ledge. |
