6/30/2024 Route: Northwest Ridge Posted On: 7/1/2024, By: two lunches Info: posting to share a huge THANK YOU to David/daway8 for greatly increasing my enjoyment of a peak i orphaned the first time i was in the area. https://www.14ers.com/php14ers/tripreport.php?trip=21263 in August of 2022, i ascended Robeson directly, but upon looking over to Engelmann, decided it was a good mountain to save for another day. instead of backtracking, i headed forward to Bard, Parnassus, and Woods. the steep, rocky slope is the worst part of that route and i inteded to avoid it upon my return this past weekend. the change: bail off the road earlier and ascend the break between the steeper sections of this side of the mountain (turn your slope shading on) after just over half a mile of a pleasant road walk, we headed into the trees. so often i think of bushwhacking as a deathwish, but in late june at 7am, this was a delightful forest adventure. the bright green ground cover is beautiful, and the spacing between trees was great so although there was some deadfall, it was easy to navigate. i initially overthought David's route, endeavoring to stay as close to his track as possible, but game and use trails were abundant on this ridge so i ultimately put my phone down and followed the path of least resistance up the slope. i noticed David and i followed the same game trails in several places on the slope. around 8AM the sun hit my side of the mountain and, in addition to brightening an abundance of wildflowers above treeline, it also woke all the mosquitoes. pro tip: don't stop hiking and the 'skeeters won't start biting. second-biggest advantage to this approach: there is a very well-defined path through the rocks under the false summit. it is marked with a large pole indicating the entry/exit point if you don't continue on to the rest of the Law Firm (Robeson, Bard, Parnassus, and Woods) it's worth noting the descent was less intuitive than the ascent. be careful not to go too far south, or you will end up in the aforementioned gullies. Summary: snow-free, summer conditions Stats: 4.5mi RT, 3,074 elev. gain, Class 2, dog-friendly |

11/19/2023 Route: Ruby Gulch Posted On: 11/19/2023, By: sarahmariekirk Info: Hiked Engelmann today with Robeson (orphaned Bard - will have to come back for it on a better weather day). Continous snow started right at the TH - and wore microspikes from start to finish due to some ice underneath the snow sporadically. We had continuous active snowfall from start to finish also, which made for an epic day! There was some bushwhacking involved in order to gain the Engelmann ridge but that was to be expected. Awesome day out! |

8/4/2023 Route: from Bard Creek Posted On: 8/4/2023, By: mijoflynn Info: Did Engelmann and Robeson from Bard Creek -- 16.5 miles, 4980 feet, longer but gentler than anything from the Ruby Gulch side. Relaxing, enjoyable hike, except for the wind. TR to follow, since info on this route is pretty sparse. |

7/29/2023 Route: Woods Creek TH Posted On: 7/31/2023, By: dylangraves24 Info: Hiked the Engelmann - Robeson - Bard - Parnassus loop, mostly off trail. Parking was fine, very steep off-trail until summit of Engelmann, but good footing. Had to slog through willows on my way down from Parnassus back to the TH, but well worth the hike. ~8.5 miles. No snow on trail as of 7/29/23. |

7/27/2023 Route: Ruby Gulch TH Posted On: 7/27/2023, By: L1zzz1ee Info: Englemann, Robeson and Bard Climbed these peaks from the Ruby Gulch TH. Followed a previous trip report and left the road about a mile in at a drainage to the left. Quickly left the drainage for a ridge to the left. There were a cute but random assortment of cairns along this ridge. Very steep but no snow or technical terrain on all three peaks. Saw a herd of elk sitting on the saddle between Englemann and Robeson. Descended the drainage between Robeson and Englemann. Followed bits of trail. Some parts were good scree skating. Near ish to treeline I found a trail on the left side of the drainage. It forked and I took the left fork which was a pointless wander over to a decrepit and abandoned cabin. Should have stayed right for efficiency. Still got back to the road with only minor difficulties posed by clambering over many trees |

7/4/2023 Route: Law Firm (EngRobBarPar) Posted On: 7/4/2023, By: Danger_D Info: Climbed the Law Firm loop from Ruby gulch. Basically summer conditions with only a few short, easy snow crossings on Parnassus/Bard saddle. Dropping back down into Ruby Gulch from the Parnassus/Wood Saddle it gets very wet, so stay out of the willows. Lots of mud and water flowing down the old mine road |

7/17/2022 Route: Ruby Gulch TH Posted On: 7/18/2022, By: kwhit24 Info: I wanted to finally hike The Law Firm so parked at the Ruby Gulch "TH" at 6am and was the first car there. By the time I got back to the car at 12:30pm there were 20ish vehicles there many of which were parked along the road. To get up Engelmann Peak I followed MaryinColorado's TR up the drainage and then used the West NW ridge to gain the summit. The rest of the hike is straight forward. Didn't see any people until I was heading up Parnassus when I saw two groups of two. Coming off Parnassus there were probably 30-40 hiking Woods and/or Parnassus from Herman Gulch TH. Coming down off Woods I traversed the slope via a game half-ass game trail until the old mine road came into view. The traverse isn't great but it looks a lot better then head straight down the steeper slopes. Once I saw the road I head straight down making shortcuts beteen the switchbacks since the slope wasn't bad. There were a couple spots I didn't see the road well but as long as I headed in its general vicinity I always found it again. Shortly after getting in to the tress I just followed to road/trail. It wraps around a little backtracking south and adding some distance but that looked a lot better than bushwhacking threw the dense trees. Plus at each creek crossing there are good rocks or pipes to help cross. (10.38 mi; 5,203' gain; 6:09:23 total time) Start at TH 6:15am; Engelmann Peak 8:10am; Robeson Peak 8:40am; Bard Peak 9:25am; Mt. Parnassus 10:15am; Woods 11:05am; Back to TH 12:25pm |

7/17/2022 Route: Woods Mountain, Mount Parnassus, Bard Peak, Robeso Posted On: 7/20/2022, By: ickiboo Info: Started at 9 am. Woods Mountain, Mount Parnassus, Bard Peak, Robeson Peak, Engelmann Peak in a Loop. Some steep bushwhacking after Engelmann. Our line is not necessary to follow by a good guide. The gully to the west of the one that we descended may be too steep to safely descend. |

5/28/2022 Route: West slopes Posted On: 5/28/2022, By: yaktoleft13 Info: Hiked the Law Firm today. Trail is intermittent snow, but after turning off onto the west slopes, I was able to stay 90% on dry ground. Snow patches heading to and down Robeson. Ascent up Bard had a fair amount of snow too. Ridge from Bard to Parnassus was the snowiest part of the loop. Descending Parnassus to the woods saddle was mostly dry. Glissaded from just below the saddle till momentum stopped, then snowshoes till a quarter mile from the trailhead. No traction needed, but snowshoes a must. |
