Info: Has to be the easiest 13er. Perfect afternoon get me out of the car and stretch my legs hike. 1 short snow bridge on ridge. Headed toward Bald but bailed due to darkening clouds. At same time I saw a group of 4 heading up. Started thundering around 5:30. Happy to see them turning around on ridge soon thereafter. At treeline I swear I saw a wolf unless it was a monster coyote. I came over a ridge and there he was 30 yards away. Big and mostly white. Looked down for a split second to get my camera ready and he was gone ugh…

Info: Boreas pass is extremely beautiful and offers some me neat places to camp along with mountains to climb. Any vehicle should be able to get up the pass to the TH. At the TH there is a decent size free lot, but no bathrooms or trash. If you were to camp in this area, take extra water as it’s pretty dry. The mountain is very straightforward and class 1/2 but there really is no defined trail down low, so be cautious with each step as there are a ton of beautiful wild flowers. As you get closer to the top, the trail is easier to follow but the rock is what we call “dinner plates” (flat, dinner plate size loose rock) which could easily cause a slip or fall. Right next to this peak is bald mountain - if you are bagging mountains I would head over to this peak as well, and it will probably add 1-2 miles with at least another 2k of vertical.

Info: Road is well trenched by skiers most of the way, I put snowshoes on around mile 4 where the trench was a bit softer. I broke off the road just before the hut, not a long distance to break trail, but it was pretty juicy. From treeline is fairly windblown, I didn't use traction today. Nice day, a little stormy off and on during descent.

Info: Very nice alternative route if you are looking for something longer than from Boreas Pass Rd. Hiked the French Pass trail until 11.4k where an obvious clearing in the willows allows easy passage across the valley. Once on the west side of the valley you've got two options, pick your way up to Black Power Pass (looks very doable), or in my case, I ascended the prominent rib to the north of BPP. Mostly tundra. From there I descended to BPP and followed the standard route to the summit. From the summit, descended to an obvious saddle to the east of the summit then picked up game trail super highways down into the valley. Willow bashing is pretty minimal. I stayed high on the south of them all. Toward the bottom of the valley there is an old mining road (visible on USFS 2016 maps) that i took back to the French Pass trail and back to the car.

Info: Climbed Boreas Mountain today in some moody mountain weather which made for some cool shots. The drive up Boreas Pass was completely dry, and the trail up Boreas was the same. There were a few snow patches, but these were able to be mitigated. There is still a fat cornice hanging onto the ridge, so be mindful. The low visibility today has us being more cognizant than usual on such an easy route. Lots of wildflowers popping up!

Info: Super fun ride off the summit, although not the exact line I wanted to ride so hopefully someone sees this and gets the line! Great freeze, started at about 6 and that was perfect for a 950 drop in. Parked down on CR 50 right where it turns up to Selkirk. Just under 11 miles rt. Trail runners for the first 1.5 mile then skin to 13k, so almost all the way. Snow felt quite consolidated and coverage is great back there. Everything in the area is looking great.

Info: Most of the ridge is dry and snow patches are avoidable except for some pockets of snow holding in the talus on the north-facing slopes. The summit register is in good shape, for now, I stashed it under a rock pictured here. It is glass though.

Info: Route through the willows was mostly obvious and found some cairns on the West Slope. Only one mandatory and well consolidated snow crossing near the top. The dinner plates were annoying but it was worth the super cool summit!

Info: TH access easy, road open. Patchy snowsome bigger spots to throw on micro spikes or slide a bit for fun, but I wouldnt go out of my way to bring skis/board up. Nice, easy start to the season. Hope its a good one.

Info: overall this route is pretty dry but it is not summer conditions yet. snowfields and drifts linger in the trees, below the saddle, and on the ridge in some of the shaded areas. maybe it's possible that with some really interesting route finding you could avoid them? i didn't try. the snow is fairly supportive, but i had several SURPRISE postholes to my thighs and waist. water is bountiful up to the pass with all the runoff creating pleasant little streams- including underneath one of the snowfields on the approach, which is decidedly less pleasant.. thankfully this is a short hike, so soaked boots were not a concern. no traction used one note about this route- do your best to stay ridge proper from black powder pass. there is a halfway decent trail on good rock, but if you try to cut beneath the high points to reduce elevation gain, you'll end up on steep, unstable, BS dinner plate talus.

Info: From the Black Powder Pass ridge all the way up Boreas was almost all snow free or avoidable. 8.07 miles; 3,551' gain; 4 hours 45min Start about 5:30am; Bald Mtn 7:30am (10 min break); Boreas Mtn 9:30am (15 min break); TH 10:20pm

Info: Every which way you could possibly want to go is basically bone dry with the exception of about 30 feet of snow on the ridge due north of the trough. Quick and easy direct up west slopes from parking lot and on to summit. Bald Mtn is holding a bit more snow on south side but is not long for this world. Boreas Pass road is dry from Como side all the way to Breckenridge.

Info: Walked up Boreas Pass Road from the closure in Breck. The road is packed down all the way to the pass, thanks to XC skiers. I wore snowshoes for the brief but deep section between the pass and the climb to the ridge. For the climb, there's a fresh dusting of snow on the talus, which makes for come sketchy stepping in places. The wind was calm all day but on the summit ridge it was something fierce.
