Route: NE ridge from Upper Slate Lake

Info: We did peak Ls NE ridge route and followed Dobsons excellent TR. The gpx he has in his TR is pretty great. One suggestion is on the ascent there is a spot where the gpx branches only to rejoin later. I highly recommend taking the climbers left branch. We ascended the climbers right branch and descended the climbers left branch. The ascent slope has plenty of class 2 and class 3 grass. On the ridge its just a quality fun scramble to the tiny summit.

Route: Southwest Ridge from Upper Slate Lake

Info: Snow is completely avoidable all the way to the summit. I brought an axe and crampons but never used them. The knife edge is all solid rock and easy to navigate. The scrambling up the summit block was super fun, class 3. My guide book (Kramarsic Gore Range) lists this climb as a class 3, I would put it at a 4. We backpacked in from Rock Creek. The Gore Range trail north of Boulder Lake is in rough shape - countless downed trees on the trail. Slate Creek trail was in considerably better condition, but many parts are overgrown, muddy and flooded in spots. The mosquitos were absolutely horrific on Slate Creek all the way to camp at Upper Slate Lake. Other than in our tent or on a small island on the Lake, we could not avoid them. Bring lots and lots of bug spray. The Slate Creek Basin is absolutely gorgeous. We camped at Upper Slate Lake and mostly had the lake to ourselves. Amazing area, can't wait to go back

Route: from Slate lake

Info: The approach trail still has a few wet spots, and there were still some mosquitos, so can only imagine what the approach looked like a month ago with heavy rains this summer. Leaves started turning. Contoured around the lake and ascended the prominent gully, class 2. Scrambling started about 300 ft from the top of the ridge. We just went straight up the face, via prominent rock gully and the face next to it, class 4- low 5th. From the false summit, continued up the rocky face to the summit. Did the traverse to N. Found no registers on any of the summits.
