8/17/2024 Route: Ripsaw Posted On: 8/18/2024, By: Laxer04 Info: We did the Ripsaw Ridge (Peak C, C Prime, D, E, F and G). Not much to report (perfect summer conditions as expected this time of year) other than the ridge is incredibly fun and I highly recommend it. We initially tried going up the north side of the Peak C summit block but was really exposed class 4/5 terrain so we backtracked to the much easier, standard route up C. That cost us about an hour. I stayed ridge proper for the majority of it. Just really fun scrambling and ridge running. Saw one other group of 2 that did the entire ridge plus Black BM and H. The descent from G wasn't ideal (loose rock and steep grassy slopes) and the upper piney trail remains in rough shape. But I do feel like it is getting a little better as more people are using it. Saw a mother moose and her baby at lower piney lake, 3 mountain goats followed us up Peak C and saw about 20/30 bighorn sheep descending Peak G. Fantastic day in the Gores. Add this one to your list if you like long ridge scrambles! |
