1/25/2020 Route: Loop: Kuss, Mosquito, Treasurevault Posted On: 1/25/2020, By: osprey Info: I parked where the Mosquito Pass road becomes 4wheel. I used snowshoes for the entire round trip. The lower part of the road is mostly hard packed. It becomes deep near the turnoff to the North London Mine. The road up to the Kuss London saddle is very deep with drifts. From the saddle to the summit is a mixture of hard pack and drifted snow. It was windy and lightly snowing all day with limited visibility many times. It took 6 hours to reach Mosquito summit and 3 hours to descend. I did not go further than the Mosquito summit. The wind had completely filled my ascent trench and so I enjoyed establishing a descent trench which has already been obliterated. |

1/5/2020 Route: Loop: Kuss, Mosquito, Treasurevault Posted On: 1/5/2020, By: WildWanderer Info: Cornices are forming on ridges. I stayed to the left of the cornice and had no difficulty descending or ascending. I wore snowshoes the entire way, sticking to the ridge. |

1/4/2020 Route: Via Mosquito Pass from Leadville Posted On: 1/4/2020, By: LetsGoMets Info: Road to Mosquito Pass is plowed to 11,000 and then had ski resort grade corduroy to 12,000ish. From there it was mostly following the road/trail with some post-holing occasionally but mostly firm to the pass. Avoid the first switchback on the road proper after the grating (it's on maps) that swings on the the SE face around 12,400, it's holding snow and steep enough to be dangerous. Pass to Kuss/Repeater is mostly road, and rock hopping with drifts and snow. Mosquito is mostly rock hopping until the last 100 vertical feet or so. Was going to tack on Evans on my way back but the wind picked up quick and hard after a mostly calm-ish morning. Brought traction, didn't use it. Flotation could be helpful in places but I'm a glutton for leg punishment. |

10/1/2019 Route: Loop: Kuss, Mosquito, Treasurevault Posted On: 10/1/2019, By: supranihilest Info: This hulking peak is easier than it looks, though the rock is extremely loose. From Kuss Peak descend north down talus to an old road. The road does not lead to the summit. You can either take the entire ridge or follow the road for just a hair until it starts curving northwest. From this point you should turn northeast and head up steep loose dirt/talus to the ridge crest. It's the same vert just less horizontal on loose junk. There are trail segments but you'll probably just be weaving around in the talus trying to find whatever is the least loose. There are no false summits, thankfully. |

8/3/2019 Route: Loop: Kuss, Mosquito, Treasurevault Posted On: 8/5/2019, By: E_A_Marcus_949 Info: Looped it with Tweto - started with Tweto then Treasurevault -> Mosquito -> Kuss then back down. Some snow fields on Treasurevault's ride from Tweto, but they are entirely avoidable. Snow on edge of Kuss but no need to get anywhere close to that cornice. Full summer conditions everywhere else - not necessary to cross any snowfields. |

7/27/2019 Route: Loop: Kuss, Mosquito, Treasurevault Posted On: 7/28/2019, By: flagship47 Info: Mosquito Pass is still closed. Road is clear to TH which is at 11560'. There is a decent sized snowbank about 3/4 up further on 4x4 portion of Mosquito Pass Road that has a few spots where it appears some attempted to drive through the snowbank but failed. Summer conditions on loop, ridges clear of snow but still have some snow melt on the road to the east of Tweto and a bit on Mosquito Pass Road. |

7/15/2019 Route: Loop: Kuss, Mosquito, Treasurevault Posted On: 7/15/2019, By: HikerGuy Info: Did the loop counterclockwise starting with Tweto. Essentially summer conditions, no gear needed. Any snow to be crossed was either very short or flat and all of it was supportive. Meltwater is running down most of the mining roads. It might be until August before Mosquito Pass opens up, a large snowfield covers the road by the North London Mine. |

1/20/2019 Route: Loop: Kuss, Mosquito, Treasurevault Posted On: 1/20/2019, By: cottonmountaineering Info: The east side of the mosquito range had a lot of wind during the last storm cycle, leaving a lot of areas bare, and others loaded. Snow was drifted/unconsolidated to just above treeline, then a mix of hard snow/crud. Saw a couple avy debris fields near planned route so decided to turn around at about 12,5. |

8/12/2016 Route: Loop: Kuss, Mosquito, Treasurevault Posted On: 8/13/2016, By: jasayrevt Info: Clear and very nice enjoyable trip w/ reaching summits. Great, beautiful 13er mountains. This quality, classic route is a unique undertaking and lightly traveled. Prime, excellent, and bluebird summer conditions up high for navigating slopes and ridge line extremely well. Trail runners and light pack were good. Climb safely / swiftly in the hills folks. Pictures included as beta |

7/4/2016 Route: Loop: Kuss, Mosquito, Treasurevault Posted On: 7/5/2016, By: jlarocco Info: Did the loop along with London and Tweto. The road has flowing water most of the way up to the London/Kuss saddle, but it's easily avoided. Route is completely snow free except one small patch along the road above the mine - some 4x4s have driven through it, though, and you can walk through the tire tracks. From a distance, the ridge up Mosquito looks like there's a patch to cross, but when you get there it ends up you can easily walk rock to rock and avoid it. |

3/5/2016 Route: from Mosquito Pass Posted On: 3/5/2016, By: screeman57 Info: Mosquito Pass is currently accessible from the Leadville side. Groomed from the winter closure to the plateau before the first switchback (12,400). Patchy snow beyond that, with 2 large snowslopes that are easily avoidable. Once at the pass, the ridge is completely windblown in both directions. |
