Route: from San Joaquin ridge
Posted On: 6/27/2022, By: SnowAlien
Info: Maybe I am a bit out of practice, but the traverse is loose! With heavy overnight rain and melting half inch snow, the ground was soggy and talus very unstable. Saw a couple naturals, nothing too big, but definitely heads up. West ridge descent off SJR was fine, then I found the shelf, which worked very well. Instead of gaining the ridge, I made a mistake of traversing, very unpleasant and slow going. Spectacular summit, has a working register. Descent into Staatsburg basin, good trail from Gertrude mine. Wildflowers are out in force.

Route: North Couloirs via Lena Basin
Posted On: 9/17/2021, By: supranihilest
Info: I took the free gondola from Telluride to Mountain Village, then took the See Forever trail up the ski resort. At 12,000' I took the Wasatch Connector trail which drops into Bear Creek. I crossed the creek then headed southwest into Lena Basin, eventually transitioning from tundra to talus. Silver's north couloirs are obvious, and form a Y. I took the left branch but I'm sure the right branch would also work just fine. The couloirs weren't difficult, a little bit of Class 2+ in spots, but they are steep and full of loose dinner plates so they're tedious. Once on the ridge east of the summit it was a quick Class 2+ scramble to the summit.
