7/8/2025 Route: Imogene Pass Posted On: 7/10/2025, By: JasonKline Info: Starting from the northern terminus of the Imogene Pass Road near Yankee Boy Basin (aka as far as my Hyundai Ioniq could go since the Imogene Pass Road was right out), this route combined https://www.listsofjohn.com/tr?Id=12296&pkid=472 and https://www.listsofjohn.com/tr?Id=19976&pkid=724 to do a loop of Hayden South->Richmond->T8->T7->Chicago->Tomboy. The route is basically in summer conditions. Most of the remaining snow is avoidable. The only places where I stepped on snow were (1) on the Richmond Road around 11,700' on the way up to Hayden South and (2) around 12,500' between Richmond and T8, and both crossings were inconsequential. If you can drive up to where the Richmond Road leaves the Imogene Pass Road, you can save some distance and elevation. |

5/12/2025 Route: T7 -> Hayden north Posted On: 5/12/2025, By: yaktoleft13 Info: Marsh and I ran the ridges-ish from t7 -> t8 -> Richmond -> Hayden south -> king and 3 queens- -> Hayden north. Car shuttled, started at black bear pass start of road and ended at Hayden trailhead. Need a real early start on this day. Fortunately, the snow stayed surprisingly good. For t7, ascended the basin below 13509 and telluride peak, dropped down to the lake and took the snow slopes up to t7. To t8, dodged the ridge to the ne to 12.6, then climbed easy snow up to the summit. Tried to stay high over to Richmond, but nasty ridge/snow had us drop 50 feet to the n before regaining. Hayden souths slopes had a trail, which was dry. The down climb toward k3q was essentially dry, 3rd class, definitely loose. Upper slopes of of k3q was mildly scrambly and loose. Descent of k3q was more loose talus to traverse the ridge to the gully, then a snowy gully descent to the saddle. Steep snow coming off the cornice, maybe 60 degrees for 20 feet, then relented to 45ish. Loose but not too bad up Hayden n. For descent, backtracked to start of summit ridge of n Hayden, then glissaded essentially till the snow stopped. Got something like 1600 vert of glissade. Below 11k is dry. 11 miles, 5200 gain, 6500 descent, 9:40 car to car. |

9/16/2020 Route: From Telluride Peak Posted On: 9/17/2020, By: supranihilest Info: Easy hike to "T 7". Stay high on the ridge as you hike towards Imogene Pass, since losing elevation here means side hilling on somewhat steep and extremely loose junk and probably re-gaining elevation to avoid this. The hike from Imogene Pass to "T 7" is steep but easy. |
