7/17/2024 Route: 13308/13179/13166 from West Willow Creek Posted On: 7/18/2024, By: JasonKline Info: The 13308/13179/13166/San Luis loop from West Willow Creek Trailhead is in full summer conditions with no snow/ice. For much of the route from 13308 to 13179 and from 13179 to 13166, we dipped a bit to the southeast/climber's right to avoid the ridge difficulties. It definitely involved some loose not-so-much-fun, but it was probably much better than staying on the ridge. |

9/1/2019 Route: Northwest Ridge Posted On: 9/3/2019, By: supranihilest Info: The route from West Willow Creek Trailhead to Point 13,300 is entirely Class 1 trail or Class 1 off-trail grass. The exact cutoff from the Colorado Trail through the willows is a matter of taste, as the slopes are broad and open. There's a large cairn to the west/climber's right once you reach the summit plateau but it is very obviously at the low point of the plateau, let alone the actual summit bump, which is the start of the ridge to Point 13,180 C. If traversing along the ridge to Point 13,180 C and Point 13,155 be aware the rock on the ridge is exceptionally, dangerously loose. |
