Much worse part is descending back to the trail at Hope Pass above Lake Hope. That talus is nasty and steep the whole way down. Still this loop route to do Vermilion, Golden Horn, Fuller, Beattie, and V8 is really awesome. Beautiful day!! |

8/23/2020 Route: South Slopes from Hope Pass Posted On: 8/24/2020, By: supranihilest Info: From Hope Pass scramble up Class 2+/Easy Class 3 boulders and talus to the upper ridge. The bottom 2/3 or so of the slope is stable but the upper portion gets a bit looser. The summit ridge is a Class 2 hike. Ascending this would almost certainly be better than descending; it was super fast going up but would be incredibly tedious going down (say you were traversing from Vermilion or something). We continued on to Beattie Peak from here. |
