9/8/2023 Route: From Engineer Pass Posted On: 9/10/2023, By: IHikeLikeAGirl Info: Summer conditions, of course. More of an FYI on Engineer Pass Road. Hinsdale County has done a great job on CR 20. I have 8.8" clearance and did not hit once. Most of the road is not bad, but one of the tight switchbacks (just before the pass) is tricky, steep, and a tight turn. |

7/5/2023 Route: Engineer Pass Posted On: 7/7/2023, By: JasonKline Info: We did the Engineer Mountain->Darley Mountain->13132->Cow Benchmark->Wildhorse Peak->Blackwall Mountain loop from Engineer Pass as described in https://www.14ers.com/php14ers/tripreport.php?trip=17855 although we took a slightly different route back to Engineer Pass from Blackwall Mountain. There was still patchy snow throughout the route that we occasionally traversed. Most of the snow was flat and inconsequential, and much of it could have been avoided. There was an unavoidable patch on the way up 13132 that had some slope to it, but it was relatively wide and had a flat path on top so you were never close to the edge. One of us did not use microspikes, and the two of us who did use microspikes didn't find them terribly useful on most of the snow due to its softness. None of us took ice axes, but axes might have been nice on the patch below 13132. |

2/1/2020 Route: East Ridge Posted On: 2/3/2020, By: SarahT Info: Started from Eureka. Several slides have crossed CO-110 but its in safe condition at the moment. The North Fork drainage is very narrow with steep slopes on either side - not a good place to be except in the best of conditions. Gaining Engineer's east ridge near the saddle with Seigal Mountain was safe and comfortable and the ridge itself was a stroll. |
