Route: low traverse from Centennial, North gully
Posted On: 9/8/2023, By: SnowAlien
Info: I didn't see any info on this traverse or ascent, although I've since learned it's in Dave Cooper book. I descended the NE ridge of Centennial (although it would be faster to descend the north ridge towards Sharkstooth and contour under). I did the low traverse mostly on grass under the formidable looking Centennial- Lavender ridge and got a good look at the 2 big couloirs to the Lavender-Moss saddle, both still had snow. I picked the left one as it was closer to Moss and the snow was avoidable on the left side. The scramble was much more solid and better than expected at about Class 4 (there was a chossier and easier line in the center), but the finish to reach the saddle was at loose Class 4 where I had to test holds. Spectacular line. For skiing, I think it would be best to rappel into the couloir. Moss summit is about 150 ft above the saddle. Continued to Lavender after.
