9/6/2023 Route: Knife ridge from Babcock Posted On: 9/7/2023, By: SnowAlien Info: After making the main Babcock summit, we downclimbed back to the gully and made our way to the West Babcock summit. From there, the Knife ridge begins. It didn't feel very difficult or exposed until the very last bit before the Notch with Spiller. It was very narrow and exciting! Definitely needed to test most holds as they were a few surprises and seemingly solid holds would shift. From the saddle, Shawn took the ridge proper (looked a bit scary with a questionable rock quality), so I wussed out, downclimbed gully for maybe 100 feet and picked a nice pretty solid class 3 line. A few C4 moves to get up, but then it quickly mellows out. Fun day to finish the La Plata range 13ers. |
