Route: West ridge via Willow Creek
Posted On: 11/11/2019, By: CaptainSuburbia
Info: Willow Creek approach is mostly dry for first 3 miles then boot packed to lake. Mostly avoidable patchy snow from there to upper basin with occasional postholes. Dry from bottom of gully to Adams summit. Snow was easily avoidable except for occasional postholes on ridge to Point 13546. Dry to Point 13580A.

Route: From Horn Creek TH
Posted On: 10/20/2019, By: majtytom
Info: TH was nice and dry. After intersection of Rainbow trail and Horn Creek Trail, there was some snow going from frosting to a couple of inches at the lakes. After leaving trail, steep slope up to the ridge crest was covered in snow/ice, a bit slippery. Ridge crest had quite a bit of snow and often exposed to winds. One had to be careful not to slip. I had poles and microspikes, but did not use either as I found them cumbersome.

Route: West ridge via Willow Creek

Info: Summer conditions on the trail. Bring waterproof shoes for the basins above the lake. Once I got to the lower basin (12,000' ish) if you stay climbers left near the creek there is a decent trail. Route finding was easy based on the description here. The final summit block was true class 3, but if you stick to the grassy ledges its really not too bad. The pic is showing the mountain from the Challenger summit.

Route: South Face from Horn Lake
Posted On: 7/16/2019, By: Kitten
Info: Route from Horn Lake is totally free of snow. There is a cornice all the way up in the ridge, but it is easily passable on the right (north) side.

Route: From North Crestone Lake
Posted On: 6/25/2019, By: kingshimmers
Info: South faces in the area are clear, but lakes are still completely ice covered and shaded areas still have deep snow, indicating a rapid recent snowmelt. First photo shows the north slopes of Mt. Adams from North Crestone Lake. Second photo shows Mt. Adams behind the northwest ridge of Unnamed 13153.

Route: West ridge via Willow Creek
Posted On: 5/28/2018, By: HikerGuy
Info: Camped at Willow Lake Friday night, no bugs to speak of, super dry up there. No snow at all on this route. Also hiked 13,546 and 13,580, again no snow at all. Excellent views from 13,546. The ridge from Adams to 13,580 looks questionable, but it goes without trouble. 1st photo is of Adams from 13,580. 2nd photo is of 13,546 from Adams. 3rd photo is of Adams from 13,546.

Route: East Ridge from Horn
Posted On: 5/9/2018, By: JtheChemE
Info: Horn Creek Trail mostly snow free to ~10,800. Above that is highly variable snow amounts, but the snow was already melting fast when we were coming down. East ridge was holding a surprising amount of snow, given the poor winter the Sangres had. We used crampons and ice axe. The short summit crack was completely filled with snow, and the standard ledges went as a snow traverse. We went up and over 13325, and there was still a nice ~1000' glissade down from 13325.

Info: Not much snow on Adams :-( I did 13,546 first, then Adams, then 13,580. No floatation required. I threw my spikes on a couple times, but most of it was just boots.

Info: Trail was dry to the falls around 10,900'. Deep snow past, though melting quickly. Mix of deep snow drifts and bare rocks on the north ridge between 13,580' and Adams.

Route: West ridge via Willow Creek
Posted On: 11/13/2016, By: bdloftin77
Info: Segments of the trail near Willow Lake had a cm of packed snow, and there were also some ice covered sections I had to avoid. From Willow Lake up to Adams was bone dry. The north faces of Challenger and Kit Carson looked like they had quite a few patches of snow, as well as Crestone Peak. The Sangres to the north all looked pretty dry.

Info: No snow on the route. We did this as a day hike from the Willow Lake TH, which took 10.5 hours with a steady pace. It did look like there was some snow on Challenger's route.
