There was a snowmobile trail to walk up on for about 3 miles or so, then ski, snowshoe or snowmobile only. Snow gets pretty deep past community house - more trail-breaking involved. As of today, there is a ski track all the way up to and past the Half Moon TH. | ||||

Lots of hunters, so bring some bright clothes. Trail is pretty much snowshoe only, or at least becomes so relatively quickly. | ||||
10/30/2010 Posted On: 10/31/2010 By: WIclimber Info: Road is iced over for most of the 8 miles. We made it though with 4WD in a Tacoma truck. You will need snowshoes if you do the Halo Ridge route. We didn‘t take them and postholed to our knees and thighs for an hour before turning back. | ||||

Road is now well groomed and packed down by the snowmobiles and CAT from Nova Guides. Snowshoes are not needed for the road. XC skis would be nice! ++Snow from the TH to Halfmoon Pass is dry, deep pow and very unconsolidated. | ||||
