9/24/2006 Posted On: 9/24/2006 By: Chicago Transplant Info: Was able to drive all the way to Lower Iowa Gulch today (9/24/06), there is a nice rut the whole way. A little icy in places and you definitely will want 4WD and decent clearance, the ruts are a solid foot deep in most places. Of course if it warms up it might melt out again anyway!
8/9/2006 Posted On: 8/9/2006 By: colojp75 Info: Is there camping available at this trailhead? I ask because I need to get an early start with my 2 little ones...any help would be appreciated
6/11/2006 Posted On: 6/11/2006 By: mhbare Info: Up there today (6/11) and the road is clear all the way. No problems. Got to watch for some fallen rock on the road, but you should be able to get pretty much anthing up the road. The Iowa Gulch trail still has a few snowy spots in the valley, but nothing major. Once your out of the valley the trail is pretty clear. No snowshoes or anything needed.
5/24/2006 Posted On: 5/24/2006 By: rtichota Info: I was up there a couple days ago, and the road was pretty good except for some snow covered areas. The snow covered most of the road in some places so one side would be on the dirt and the other would be on the snow. I drive a dodge dakota and had no problem, but not for the faint of heart, that snow gets pretty exciting after its turned to slush in the afternoon.
5/8/2006 Posted On: 5/8/2006 By: swturner Info: Plenty of snow (several feet) still on the road. Had to park about a mile from trailhead. It will be sometime before the snow melts out. Walking up the road was no problem in the morning but there was pleny of post holing on the way back.
5/9/2005 Posted On: 5/9/2005 By: mshepard Info: I checked this out on Sunday 5/8 and the snow had melted so that you could go about a mile past winter closure. |
