4/23/2024 Posted On: 4/23/2024 By: masonzastrow Info: Gate is closed about one mile below the summer trailhead. Road is in good shape to the mennonite camp, pretty rutted out from there to the gate. Personally, I wouldn't take a low clearance vehicle up there but the road seemed to be melting even just over the course of the day so it might be fine within a week, who knows.
3/31/2024 Posted On: 3/31/2024 By: colorado yooper Info: Road is not plowed thru the Mennonite camp. There is no parking in the usual places. You'd have to park downhill of the camp. That's going to add 3-4 miles round trip.
12/23/2023 Posted On: 12/23/2023 By: marksilas Info: Gate is closed just above the Mennonite Camp; a little more than a mile from the summer TH.
11/17/2023 Posted On: 11/17/2023 By: WildWanderer Info: Gate still open to Crags Trailhead, but it's icy in spots. | 2 |

11/12/2023 Posted On: 11/14/2023 By: sdicenso Info: The road is still open to the trailhead. Snowpacked past the Mennonite Camp, some slick spots. There were cars and AWD SUV's that made it there. Don't park in front of the gate to the Crags Campground as SAR might need access there if they get called out on a mission, as I saw one person do.
10/14/2023 Posted On: 10/14/2023 By: wanderlust073 Info: Road dry and good condition end to end. Ample parking 630a on a Saturday. Still a spot or two when I left early afternoon.
8/19/2023 Posted On: 8/23/2023 By: rcpelikan Info: The road to the trailhead is in excellent condition. I did find it very sandy, and in a 2wd vehicle, had my rear end slip quite a bit on the descent. Use caution when taking turns, especially when passing an oncoming vehicle.
6/17/2023 Posted On: 6/18/2023 By: MaryinColorado Info: Road is clear all the way to the trailhead. 2WD friendly, nice and smooth most of the way.
6/9/2023 Posted On: 6/10/2023 By: gwright Info: Crags campground is open. The trail from campground is littered with fallen trees for the first mile making a difficult navigation by headlamp.
5/31/2023 Posted On: 6/1/2023 By: marksilas Info: Gate just above the church camp was open on 5/31. Road up to the main Crags TH was dry.
5/23/2023 Posted On: 5/23/2023 By: JQDivide Info: Gate was still closed today.
5/7/2023 Posted On: 5/9/2023 By: Eagle Eye Info: The road up to the gate was fine, parking was plentiful! The gate is closed. The road past the gate is also clear/dry. The men's bathroom is unlocked at the summer TH, but no TP. Womens bathroom is locked.
4/8/2023 Posted On: 4/8/2023 By: AndrewJCraigie Info: Gate to the campground still closed - not much snow on the road up to the gate. A bit muddy by the end of the day.
3/18/2023 Posted On: 3/19/2023 By: madmattd Info: No issues to the Mennonite Camp - dirt and a shallow amount of packed snow/ice. The short stretch past the camp to the gate (~1/4mi) had not been plowed since the last snow storm(s) - 4-5" of light, fluffy snow on the road with only a couple sets of tire tracks through it. FWD and snow-rated tires was sufficient, but marginal in the lot itself. By the end of the day, enough vehicle traffic had come through to flatten out most of the snow on the road and by the gate, so it should be fine now. Lots of room for parking.
1/13/2023 Posted On: 1/14/2023 By: ssowalskie Info: The road to the gate is pretty well-maintained right now, with only a light amount of snow present. Parking available for probably 10 cars, maybe more. The restrooms at the actual campground are closed. |
