5/24/2019 Posted On: 5/24/2019 By: Jay521 Info: Road from Georgetown was closed at Naylor when I left for my annual b/day hike of Bierstadt this morning, but was opened while I was on the mountain. Guess I shoulda waited until tomorrow and I coulda saved myself some distance. LOTS of snow up there. Ooops - just read Polar's report! What he said!

1/15/2019 Posted On: 1/15/2019 By: QuietBear Info: Skied up and down Guanella pass today from the north winter closure. The winter closure from Georgetown is at the Naylor Lake turnoff, just past the Guanella Pass Campground. The road up to the winter closure has been recently plowed and sanded, but had a thin layer of ice over 50% of the road. Watch out for bighorns on the road. The road past the winter closure is covered with several feet of powder, with a solid trench all the way up. Bootpacking up the pass would be hard but doable.
1/12/2019 Posted On: 1/13/2019 By: JasonCrane Info: Guanella Pass was plowed on Saturday 1/12 to the winter road closure & generally accessible to most vehicles. There is parking available at Silver Dollar Road parking area.
12/29/2018 Posted On: 12/31/2018 By: Eagle Eye Info: I drove from Grant/US 285 on the south-side, where a gate is closed about 6.7 miles from US 285 at a road fork, Duck Creek. This is about 5 miles from Guanella Pass TH/pass summit. The road was in great shape all the way to the gate and past it as far as I could see!
12/16/2018 Posted On: 12/16/2018 By: Plugugly Info: The road from 285, coming from the south, is closed four miles from the trailhead.
12/2/2018 Posted On: 12/2/2018 By: KState14er Info: Road closed at gate so plan accordingly. Easy, dry access to gate today with some patches of ice on the road that won't pose any danger in any type of vehicle.

11/22/2018 Posted On: 11/23/2018 By: Woodland Info: Pass still open, road clear all the way to top. Snowpacked in places near the top, more on the north side - my Sienna van handled it fine. Bathrooms were being closed while we were there. According to Forest service worker the pass will close on Monday.
11/20/2018 Posted On: 11/20/2018 By: crowdsurf Info: Basically what Scary Canary said 10 days ago. Pass is still open. Some ice and gravel but nothing overwhelming.
11/8/2018 Posted On: 11/10/2018 By: Vern Info: Google maps says the road is closed, but it is open all the way to the summer trailhead. Dry road for the majority of the way up. Switched to snowpack a couple miles from the trailhead.
