This is one my buddy Andrew and I have wondered about often lately. It definitely looks like a worthwhile day. Your Gore trip reports are always great reads, thanks for sharing!
Nice to see what the ridge looks like in its entirety! I attempted this as part of a Snow Lake Traverse (the goal was up Snow's SE ridge and around to Hail) a couple years ago but failed miserably and ended up descending a dry col on the south side of the ridge past Sleet a ways. I actually ascended another col to see if I could finish out the ridge but then backed off again. Looking forward to finishing up this missing link in the spine now! Great work!
this ridge traverse in the opposite direction from the Snow Peak saddle to Sleet Peak and Hail Peak in 2010. From Sleet Peak I remember thinking that this looked liked a most depressing ridge to tackle alone and which I found to be probably the most crumbling and rotten ridge I have been on in the Gore until one gets to the west ridge of Hail. It is a ridge that forces one to think to find a route across and with no previous information in my case and yours also makes it all the more worthwhile. Your final up climb picture was my beginning down climb and I don't recall leaving a cairn or seeing one as you mention but left my record in the Hail Peak register. I hope you find some more of these ridges in the Gore and there are several that are not well known.
Justin, you guys should definitely do it. I think its right up ya'lls alley! Thanks for the comment man.
Andrew, I love hearing you gave it the ole college try! Solo on the unknown is a tough thing to stomach IMO. I guess we're not all Gore Galore :D And, that SE ridge of Snow? Very nice.
Sarah, now you know! Thanks and hope you are doing good.
Galore, I had an inkling in the back of my mind you had done this. Super impressed as always with that leap of faith descending into the belly of the monster from Sleet and solo at that! I hope you are well.
This is my next Gore peak on the list. I always thought the path you took down from Snow Pass to Deluge Lake would be nice. You can see the line, the goats know it and you did it. Very timely report.
