Here is an insight of the Annapurna Base Camp trip, for those who would like to get to Nepal and don't know which trek to go for. Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) is completely different to Everest Base Camp (EBC). ABC is more like a trek into a jungle for the first few days just to have a glimpse of the mountains the day before arriving there. I just did the EBC one week ago and returning to Kathmandu was quite tough. I needed something quieter and went to Pokhara, west of Kathmandu. Pokhara is much more relax, nice town with a lake and restaurants. I rented my gear there..
Things to remember:
1) Soles of my rented shoes went off half an hour after I started the trip...impossible to come back because my taxi was gone, had to ask super glu in every village i came across...and find it after 2 hours. Impossible to walk like that in the snow until ABC.
2) Got altitude sickness just before arriving at ABC, cold and fever...even though i did EBC which was much higher 1 week before...ordered a pizza, then throwing up and shitting at the same time in the obscurity of a nepalese toilet without paper...hell!
Thank a lot!
Urgent: Electrical technician needed!

My GPS Tracks on Google Maps (made from a .GPX file upload):
We did a very enjoyable 8-day ABC trek last fall (Oct into Nov). We climbed to 15K above ABC before reaching any snow. Food at the guest houses was good. My only complaint was that the beer got more expensive the higher we got!
You should not complain at all. Next time, you can hike 8 days worth of gear including a tent. Think about the footprint left transporting that beer to Kathmandu then Pokhra, then one of the main entry points, then by yak or porter.
Tashi delek.
