The most vertical climbed and skied in a day

Post by joelmpaula »

I was wondering what the most vertical that a person has climbed and skied in 12 or 24 hrs. I am not talking about hiking and skiing the resort.

Don't know of it's still a record but according to http://www.tetonat.com/2009/03/13/new-m ... ld-records" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Ekkehard Dörschlag climbed 18,288m (60,350') in 24 hours at a ski-touring race at Bad Gastein, Austria on Feb 27/28, 2009. Skimo gear has got quite a bit lighter since then but a quick Google search didn't turn up any more recent records.

aaron rice routinely skies 10000'+ in a day on his quest for 2.5m in a year. Pretty impressive how consistent the guy is. I believe he's on track to get the # as of now.
