Climbing partner for the Grand?

Post by evan85 »

Hi All,

So this is going to be a total shot in the dark but I am looking to find a climbing partner to conquer The Grand (Teton) this summer.

I am a avid climber but the two things I lack is a committed partner and experience in lead climbing. I am originally from Arizona and I have been living in New Hampshire for the past 6 years. I am relocating to Denver at the end of May, for the sole purpose of being closer to the mountains and to pursue climbing/mountaineering with all my spare time. I will be new to Denver but not new to 14ers as I have already checked off most of the class 4 climbs and I am now looking into the class 5 climbs the 14ers offer. If you are interested in completing the Grand this year and/or you would like to take on a new climbing partner then please message me back and I can provide more details on my experience, background and knowledge. Also, if you know of a better forum/place to find a new climbing partner, I am all ears, thanks! - Evan

Mountain Project forum. Not sure if I'd call it "better", but it is certainly more geared toward rock climbing than 14ers.com.

You WILL find multiple partners on MP. But there is a strong chance some of them will be flakes, not safe, oddballs, etc etc.

This site IMO will find you a higher quality partner if it is successful. As much as I would love to do this, I don't see it in my cards this summer. If you want to break into Class 5 on the West Slope of CO, I would be highly interested!

I'd be interested, but keep in mind that most of the permits are already long gone. You are likely too late for an advance permits. (You don't need a permit for day climbs, but that's a LONG day).

You can still get a walk in permit, but it isn't a sure thing. You have to have a plan B.
I'm old, slow and fat. Unfortunately, those are my good qualities.
