Where's the rose?
On the new CAIC website, where can I find the avalanche rose? I saw it on some CAIC videos, but I can't seem to find it when on the site.

Re: Where's the rose?
On the website, first click on the zone of interest (they're using dynamic zones now that change based on what regions share similar avy conditions) then scroll down to get to the avalanche problems and the rose.
If using the CAIC app there's a separate tab for "problems" which is where you'll find the rose.

Re: Where's the rose?
I see that it is up on the website now. When I posted, there were no "problems" reported even though some areas were yellow. There are now. Thanks.

Re: Where's the rose?
Some things to keep in mind especially during the early and late season, and something many of you have likely noticed recently:
The danger can be at LOW in an area and may or may not have a problem listed depending on conditions. No problem equals no rose. This makes the Summary and the Forecast Discussion that much more important when there is no problem listed. If the danger moves to MODERATE there must be a problem listed. The forecasters land on a danger rating based on the Conceptual Model of Avalanche Hazard. You can read about that here: https://www.avalancheresearch.ca/wp-con ... Others.pdf

In general the CAIC web site is an avalanche of software bugs. It’s usability and quality seem to get worse each year.

Can't really speak to the website because I rarely go there but the CAIC app is great and its usability and quality seem to get better each year.

Re: Where's the rose?
OK. Friday Night. Front range yellow. No Rose. BUT if you click on "full screen", you can get the rose. A lot of people depend on CAIC, and needless to say it sucks that they change it up and make it difficult to find stuff. "Look at our new and improved website! Good luck finding what you always knew how to find."
