Do you love 14ers? If you want to give back, but trail work isn't quite right for you, consider becoming a Colorado Fourteeners Initiative peak steward!
Who are we? Educators and observers. We talk to 14er hikers about Leave No Trace and minimizing hiker impact on the environment. We also record observations for the Forest Service.
Is there training? Yes! Training is fun, informative, and includes an amazing session about alpine ecology. There is a virtual training session option coming up and a field training session in June at Mt. Bierstadt. And when you're ready to get out and steward, you can partner with a mentor.
What is the commitment? The ask is a minimum of four days per season. You get to choose when and where to volunteer, but high-use peaks need our help the most!
What are some other perks? Meet lots of great people, have incredible office views, and pet dogs.
I'm happy to answer any questions you may have, or feel free to reach out to CFI's Operations Manager, Hannah Clark, at hannah@14ers.org or (303) 278-7650.
