Post by Scrawnald »

Looking for Nate Dawg. We linked up this past weekend on Quandary west ridge. There was no service when you tried to call the hipster and we never got your number to invite you to the photo album! 🤙

Unrelated to your inquiry: was there much snow/ice on West Ridge?

Yes there was it made the route much more difficult. Definitely take crampons and ice axe. Rope and harnest isn't a terrible idea either

Lol, that's pretty hard core for little ol Quandary West Ridge. Must have been an interestingly unusual snow if we already have springtime consolidation of snow after the first storm of the season - otherwise crampons are typically pretty worthless this time of year...

Especially interesting with Pacific West Ridge being dry (https://www.14ers.com/php14ers/peakstat ... cnum=30915). Good 'ol mountain weather.

Anyone looking for actual specifics can see my update on Kelso Ridge https://www.14ers.com/php14ers/peakstat ... cnum=30922 which appears to be likely in similar condition to Quandary West Ridge at the moment based on looking around at surrounding mountains, forecasts, etc.

Also, drove over afterwards to the Blue Lakes trailhead for Quandary West Ridge and put a couple photos up for there since a picture is worth a thousand words https://www.14ers.com/php14ers/threport ... cnum=10613

Based on the speed things were melting on G/T today I'd expect things to be even more mellow on Quandary by the weekend.
