Hello! New to climbing mountains but no unfamiliar with bouldering and long hikes. So far this year, I’ve been doing a peak every weekend and plan to keep that up. I’m finally feeling up for a 14er with Bierstadt (depending on conditions Blue Sky via hacksaw too) on the 14th of June. I camp usually the Fridays near the trailhead then hit the peak the next morning. No expectations to come out every weekend, just trying to change it up from going solo all the time.
So far I’ve summited, Mt. Kineo 9,500’, Mt. Rosa 11,500~’, and most recently Quail Mountain 13,400’ this last weekend. That being said all of my summits have been class 2s, although I’m happy to try a class 3 if I’m not alone. I’m definitely middle of the pack when it comes to pace, but I’m not looking to break records either.
I’m in the Springs area. If we plan to hit a trail that’s accessible via a paved road, I’d be more than happy to drive as my electric car will save us some money.
Let me know if you’re interested via PM please.

Cool! My wife and I will probably be across the street from you on Square Top next weekend. Where were you planning to camp? From how quickly the reserved campgrounds fill up, I am worried about FCFS sites being taken coming from Fort Collins after work on a Friday.

I should make it to either clear lake or guanella pass campgrounds by 5pm, they do fill up quickly but Im sure there will be a spot available that we can share. My worst case scenario is I find a quiet spot off road and setup my hammock between some trees.

Re: New Summit a Week Summer 25
Thanks, but we decided we'd just drive up early in the morning. This is our first summer in CO and it certainly seems like you have to be a little more on top of camping plans than Oregon where we came from. There, as long as you stayed away from a few popular areas, you could be pretty sure of vacant campsites arriving at 7 or 8 at night even on summer Fridays.
