When did the Hilltop Mine on Mt. Sherman Collapse

Post by overthe59hill »

What date did the mine collapse?

My first time up Mt. Sherman was on August 5, 2017. I got a couple of pictures of the old mine, sitting on the edge of the mountain. I heard that the Hilltop mine collapsed very soon after that. I have been up five more times.

Hilltop-June 2010.jpg
It was taken out by an avalanche during the winter of 2010-2011. Pic here is from when I hiked it in June 2010.

Edit: The cabin was taken out during the 2010-2011 time frame...

The tall hillside building in the first photo in this thread fell I believe in early 2018. It was definitely collapsed by the time I visited Sherman in September that year. I recall some discussion on here about it at that time, but I can't find the thread right now.
